Jon Stewart, host of The Daily Show, recently shared a dark prediction about the future of Donald Trump’s presidency, which began its second term in January. Speaking on The Bill Simmons Podcast, Stewart slammed the administration’s heavy-handed tactics, such as the $20 billion lawsuit Trump filed against CBS News and Paramount for allegedly interfering in the 2024 election after an interview with Kamala Harris. Stewart criticized the lawsuit as an attempt to force media loyalty and expressed concerns that Trump’s presidency will end with America left in ruin.

Despite his ongoing role on The Daily Show, Stewart warned of growing threats to independent media under Trump. He also ridiculed Trump’s boastful claims about his first 100 days in office, comparing it to an over-the-top mission where America simultaneously landed on the moon and killed Bin Laden. Stewart’s ultimate fear is that Trump will metaphorically burn the country down for “insurance money,” leaving the US in chaos by the time his presidency ends in 2029.
